Please read this before your first consultation. By ticking the consent box at sign-up, you agree to receive care through SonoCare on the terms below, for yourself and for any family member you book care for.
What telemedicine is
Telemedicine means a licensed doctor, nurse or other health professional assesses, advises or treats you by video, voice call or chat, instead of in person. Through SonoCare, professionals may also visit you at home, order lab tests, prescribe medicines and refer you to a specialist or hospital.
Possible benefits
- Quicker access to care without travelling, including for older or less mobile family members.
- Follow-up and monitoring at home, with your vital signs and results in one record.
Limits and risks
- No physical examination. A professional who cannot examine you in person may miss signs that would be found face to face. They may ask you to see someone in person, attend a hospital or have tests before giving a diagnosis.
- Your information matters. Advice is only as good as the information you give. Tell them about all your symptoms, conditions, allergies and medicines.
- Technology can fail. A poor connection, sound or picture may interrupt or delay care. If a call fails, the professional will try chat or a phone call, or ask you to rebook.
- Privacy. We protect your information as described in our Privacy Policy, but no electronic system is completely risk-free. Choose a private place for your consultation and don't share your account.
- Prescriptions. Some medicines cannot be prescribed remotely, and a professional may decline to prescribe if it would not be safe.
- Readings are estimates. A heart rate measured with your phone camera, or numbers read from a photo of your own device, can be wrong. They help you and your care team follow trends. They are not a diagnosis. The camera does not measure blood pressure, oxygen or temperature.
- Independent professionals. The professionals who care for you on SonoCare are independent and responsible for their own care, as set out in the Terms of Service. SonoCare does not direct their clinical decisions.
Emergencies
Telemedicine is not suitable for emergencies. If you or someone with you has chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of a stroke, a seizure, loss of consciousness or another life-threatening problem, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
Your choices
- You can stop a consultation at any time and choose in-person care instead.
- You can ask who is treating you and check their registration.
- Consultations are not recorded by SonoCare. Do not record a session without the other person's agreement.
- You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting hello@sonocare.com.ng. This will not affect care already given, but you will no longer be able to book telemedicine services.
Consent for family members
If you book care for a child or for an adult who cannot decide for themselves, you confirm that you are legally entitled to consent on their behalf. If you book for an adult who can decide, you confirm they have agreed to receive care through SonoCare and to you seeing their information.
Your agreement
By ticking the box you confirm that:
- you have read and understood this information, and had the chance to ask questions;

- you know that SonoCare is not an emergency service and that you should call 112 in an emergency;
